Cacao: The Spiritually Erotic Superfood

Chocolate is one of the world’s most famous foods. It is given as gifts for every major holiday, is used to express romantic love, and is genuinely a food that is considered sacred by billions of people. There are as many expressions of chocolate as there are folks on this planet. My favorite is the original, unprocessed form of chocolate, otherwise known as cacao. This form of raw chocolate is kept pure and unrefined, and I think this is what makes it such an elegant and powerful spiritual food. Cacao can activate your spiritual heart, and help to open your physical heart. It has amino acids that touch upon the pleasure centers of the brain, and is chock full of minerals, elements, and vital nutrition. This is a seriously sexy superfood.

Cacao can be used spiritually to open us up to new experiences and ways of being. It literally feeds the brain, being the highest food source of Magnesium. This is why women crave chocolate when on their cycles; the body inherently knows that cacao is a potent source of Magnesium and Iron. Yes, real cacao chocolate is a physical and spiritual medicine! This is nothing like the waxy, highly processed stuff that is mass produced.

Cacao can be used as a sacred portal in meditation to open us up to new information that we are seeking, or to receive divine inspiration. This superfood aligns your sensual intelligences to increase your potency in all ways. If you have never attended a cacao ceremony I say find one! Or, host your own! Drinking cacao beverages with the intention of tapping into the sacred feeds your heart, soul, mind, and builds community. Cacao is said to be the supreme code master for all the wisdom of the plant world: it holds all the secret messages and inspirations of every herb, tree, and entheogen plant medicine on Earth. So, you can drink or eat cacao and receive the sacred wisdom of the elders that is also available through all the plant medicines without getting high. It affects the same receptors of the brain as cannabis.

In ancient days, the Mayans used cacao as a magical elixir beverage, filled with herbs and medicines to give virility and magical capabilities to the recipient of its superpowers. Sexually, it is a powerful vasodilator, having the amino acid L-Arginine, which is one of the primary ingredients in Viagra. Cacao was so highly revered for its power that cacao beans were even used as currency in those ancient days! It is no wonder that it’s formal name of Theobroma Cacao literally translates to the “food of the gods.” Eating this will change your life in so many ways.

I am always a fan of whatever makes me feel even more sexy. I eat chocolate every day, and I do not feel bad about it for an instant because I know that for one, I deserve to do what I like, and secondly, that I am purchasing quality artisan products. The quality of the products you consume is not something to be taken lightly, as whatever you partake of becomes a part of you. Chocolate is no exception to this standard. Make sure its organic, fair trade, and coming from a company with integrity.

Enjoy the taste, texture, the chemical reactions in your brain, the warming expansiveness of your heart, the giggles and the inspiration that come along with cacao consumption. This is an indulgence that you can be assured to enjoy as a sacred ritual of medicinal superfoods.

Here is a great recipe to make dark raw chocolate easily at home!

½ cup organic cacao powder

½ cup organic melted cacao butter (use a double boiler)

¼ cup of organic dark maple syrup

½ teaspoon organic vanilla extract

Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir with a whisk. Place parchment paper onto a cookie sheet and pour the chocolate onto the parchment. Sprinkle with pink salt if you like, or dried fruit, or nuts, or even rose petals.

Pop into the freezer for half an hour. You can cut the chocolate slab into slices or break it up into a chunky bark. Enjoy this delicious, sensual gift of a superfood.
